Spinal decompression and laser therapy is showing great results in getting rid of spine pain. The research shows great benefits with those suffering from many spinal and non-spinal conditions: Lower Back Pain, Rotator Cuff Tears, Plantar Fasciitis, Tennis Elbow, and Coccydynia (tailbone pain), just to name a few.
How Laser Therapy Works:
When a high dose laser is used over painful tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, and bulging discs, there is a significant increase of metabolism within those tissues’ cells. As a result, there is rapid healing and pain reduction. At the cellular level, there is an increase of ATP, prostaglandins, and fibroblastic activity. These all aid in faster cell regeneration which not only lowers pain but heals and strengthens the tissues.
I have been using Laser and Decompression for over 10 years in my office and have been very pleased with the results, as have many of my patients.
It was many years ago that I began doing laser and decompression together. It was then that I realized how much better and faster I could get patients well with both therapies when treating bulging disc, protruding disc, or hernitated disc. Since then, I have successfully treated many people with painful spine conditions, especially herniated or bulging discs. There appears to be a “vacuum phenomenon” that occurs during the decompression process that brings the disc material back into normal position and gives immediate relief.
Shortly after my beginning using decompression therapy, I learned about laser therapy and the effect it has on tissue healing and regeneration. I also, started hearing about a more powerful laser therapy than lasers of the past. These new Class IV lasers had a deeper tissue effect than the much weaker models of a lesser class. These powerful lasers can penetrate deep enough to even speed the healing of discs. This enables us to help discs in roughly half the time we used to (with decompression alone), and to be able to heal more severe disc herniations than we could.
By stimulating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and enhancing cell membrane permeability a Class IV Laser actually helps injuries heal, rather than just masking the pain. It is even safe to apply over metal implants, broken skin, and on acute injuries.
In short, the combination of Decompression and Laser Therapy is unmatched. These allow physiological benefits that no other modality can deliver and are very safe when performed by a properly trained technician. This is how we help many people avoid spinal surgery.
Not all conditions are amenable to decompression. If our screening method does not indicate decompression as beneficial, we will let you know.
More than 2,500 published studies exist worldwide involving laser therapy and over 100 double-blind studies have been published. See www.k-laserusa.com or www.pubmed.gov for more information.
